If you are searching for info on Canadian women who married Australian soldiers and went to live there, check out the following sites and use key words like "war brides" +australia in order to narrow down the search results.

If you are searching for the marriage details of a British woman to an Australian soldier in England or Wales during WWI, check out the index at FreeBMD freebmd.rootsweb.com/. Once you find an entry that looks promising, click on the page number to see the names of the other people listed on the same page. A copy of the certificate can be ordered at the GRO in Britain at www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ Note: FreeBMD is a work in progress, check back on a regular basis if you don't find what you are searching for. There is a breakdown of what has been transcribed at freebmd.rootsweb.com/progress.shtml

My husbands grandmother Ada Cookson was born in Liverpool, England and married an Australian soldier Ernest Wickham in 1918 West Derby Lancashire. I know by Australian electorial records that she was living in Melbourne Australia in 1924.
I have found their marriage records but I have been unable to find out how or when Ada travelled to Australia.
I know Ernest returned to Australia January 1919 on the hospital transport ship "Demosthenes".
Can anyone help me find out how & when Ada travelled to Australia?
